This summer, our students discovered that "Reading is Your Superpower!" Over 16 exciting days, the Read to Succeed Summer Reading Camp gave students the tools and strategies they needed to reach their personal reading goals.
Using literacy programs that aligned with the 5 Pillars of Reading, lie UFLI, Heggerty, and Teacher Created Materials,, our educators helped students master decoding words and deeply understand what they read. We kept engagement high by letting students choose their own books, exploring real-life heroes through nonfiction, and hosting weekly book clubs.
Learning didn't stop at reading. Students expressed their creativity in our writing lab by combining storytelling with art. Community volunteers joined us for "Lunch and Listen" story sessions, and students explored their emotions through inspired Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) activities and read-alouds. Every morning started with a morning meeting and a superpower-themed "Word of the Day."
Behind the scenes, our dedicated Reading Coaches and Interventionist ensured top-notch instruction, tracked growth with precise assignments, and kept parents in the loop with weekly newsletters and progress monitoring reports in order to support our students' continued success!
