Descriptions of the virtual learning model and blended learning model are included below:

Students who will participate in the all virtual learning model will attend their classes remotely five days a week. Virtual learning will be a combination of live instruction delivered by teachers through livestreamed videos and computer-based programming.

Students who participate in the blended/in-person learning model will attend school two days a week, and will be instructed virtually three days a week, using an AA (Monday-Tuesday)/BB (Thursday-Friday) schedule format. Parents will be notified of the days their child/children are to attend in-person.
Paper versions of the survey will be available at our administrative office (located at 500 Forest Circle in Walterboro) and our school facilities.

Please complete a form for each child you have enrolled in the district. If you are enrolling a new student into CCSD, you must fill out this form and contact your school to complete additional required enrollment documents.

The deadline for completion will be Tuesday, August 11. Families who do not respond to the form will be automatically placed in the blended learning model option.

The Colleton County School Board of Trustees voted to approve the Colleton County School District School Reopening Task Force recommendation to offer both virtual and in-person learning options for the start of school during a special board meeting August 4.

This new plan will be sent to the South Carolina Department of Education for approval. This plan may change due to increases in the rate of COVID-19 spread and additional guidance from the South Carolina Department of Education.

The plan states that:

The start of school will be delayed until September 8 to prepare our facilities for reopening. CCSD will offer a choice of an all virtual learning model or a “blended” learning model to parents.
Students who will participate in the all virtual learning model will attend their classes remotely five days a week. Virtual learning will be a combination of live instruction delivered by teachers through live streamed videos and computer based programming.
Students who participate in the blended/in-person learning model will attend school two days a week, and will be instructed virtually three days a week, using an AA (Monday-Tuesday)/BB (Thursday-Friday) schedule format. Parents will be notified of the days their child/children are to attend in-person.
A registration survey determining parent choice will be available on August 6 on our district website (www.colleton.k12.sc.us) and on our school websites. Paper versions of the survey will be available at our administrative office located at 500 Forest Circle in Walterboro and our school facilities. The deadline for completion will be Tuesday, August 11. Families who do not respond to the survey will be automatically placed in the blended learning model option.
The district is continuing to explore options for families without reliable internet access, and we will provide a channel for these families to participate in our virtual learning initiatives.
Once it is deemed safe, the district will gradually phase into the traditional five day in-person learning in our schools. The district will use all possible measures to keep our schools clean and safe for students, staff and parents. Once the district decides to return to the traditional five day format, parents will have the option to continue virtual learning for the entirety of the 2020-2021 school year. Additional information on this virtual learning option will be released at a later date.
Meals will be provided for all eligible students in either model and will be available for pick-up at their school.
CCSD will be hosting a virtual public forum through Youtube Live on Monday, August 10, starting at 3 p.m. to discuss school reopening. Public forum participants can submit any questions they have on school reopening to [email protected], so they can be addressed during the virtual public forum.
Additional information on school reopening will be released as soon as possible, through multiple information channels.

CCSD Seeks Feedback on Learning Options Survey
Posted on 07/22/2020

During a special called Board meeting on July 14, 2020 the Colleton County School Board unanimously voted to approve reopening schools using an all virtual learning model.  The school district will utilize DHEC guidelines to evaluate the spread of the virus in order to make decisions on transitioning to a blended and/or face to face model.

To best prepare the school district to meet the needs of all students and families during this time, we are asking all stakeholders to complete the learning model option surveys placed below. You will only need to complete this survey once, even if you have multiple children in the district. We ask that you answer all questions on the survey and encourage your family and friends to participate.
