Posted on 03/05/2021

Phase 1b of our state’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan will begin on Monday, March 8. Frontline workers that have an increased occupational risk for contracting COVID-19 are eligible to receive the vaccine under this phase of the distribution plan.

All Colleton County School District employees that have direct contact with students (including teachers, teacher assistants, substitutes, custodians, student nutrition workers, bus drivers) will be eligible to receive the vaccine during Phase 1b.

In order to help CCSD employees receive a COVID-19 vaccine, the district has partnered with Fetter Health Care Network to help host two vaccine clinics. The first dose clinic will be held on Thursday, March 18 at the Colleton Recreation Complex (280 Recreation Lane, Walterboro), and will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The second dose clinic will be held on Thursday, April 15 at Colleton County High School (150 Cougar Nation Drive, Walterboro) and will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Please note that for the vaccine to be effective, participants must attend both vaccine clinics and receive both dose one and dose two. There is no out-of-pocket cost to receiving the vaccine. Proof of insurance will be needed to cover vaccine administration fees.

March 18, March 19, April 15, and April 16 will be all-virtual learning days for teachers and students.

Additional information on how to register for these vaccine clinics will be released as soon as possible.

CCSD employees who wish to schedule their own vaccination can do so at any time starting March 8, and do not need to attend these vaccine clinics. For more information on how to schedule a vaccination appointment, please visit scdehc.gov/vaxlocator or call the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control’s COVID-19 Vaccine Information Line at 1-866-365-8110.
